Give US-Iranian theological diplomacy a tryFinally !!
Somebody, and not an unimportant understate secretary but a religious leader, the Episcopal Bishop of the Dioceses of Washington, DC , someone near the heart of the Bush Administration openly speaks up for respectful communication between Iran and the US.
Right so !
By demonizing the other side politicians in both countries have done a lot of harm to their relations and amassed a lot of dangerous explosives between them. The connection road was more than mined and it was continually made more dangerous through unwise and unneccessary public attacks.
Talking with each other and of each other respectfully instead of demonizing will be the first step to put the train of communication back on the track.
This will be difficult enough in view of all that has happened in the past.
Even if it is not yet the politicians who can start talking the communication between religious leaders is a good start.
Maybe they are better off because they don't need to care so much for political issues but for the grass roots interest of the people they represent and because they are in one way or the other connected to and aware of a higher authority that is really in charge.
It can only be hoped (and prayed for) that Bishop John Bryson Chane's initiative might be fruitful to both sides and pave the way for political / diplomatical consultations and ultimately make its way into the heart of the After Bush Administration.
